The Dragon Statue @ Jin Ying Dalai Lama Temple, Toronto, Canada |
The
true king doesn’t keep anything to himself
He
keeps everything, to himself.
2—
When
the teacher becomes the disciple
The
disciple becomes the teacher.
3—
When
one contains, he is full.
When
one expresses, he is empty.
4—
To
master another marks slavery.
To
master oneself marks greatness.
5—
Walking
with humility and inner silence is the road to peace and salvation.
6—
Fighting
for peace may seem like contradiction, but, in the end, it is all we
have.
7
–
Guard
your tongue, and your brow for these are the expressions of the soul,
and
life
of man, the seat and expression of communion.
8—
Where
is the wisdom we’ve lost through our understanding
And
where is our understanding we’ve lost through our knowledge
Where
is our knowledge we’ve lost through our information.
9—
Losing
one’s voice is like winning at horseshoes.
10—
Some
men are sailors
Some
men are pirates
Some
men save
While
other men steal –
Which
is golden, which is silver
There
is no end to the games that we play.
11—
Compassion
is like a drug
It
compels for more
When
less would be enough.
12—
As
a youth, I started for peace and came back with war.
Both
are illusions of the mind.
13—
If
you stare into the abyss too long
The
abyss stares back at you.
14—
Rumination
is dead!
15—
When
non-attachment moves too far along the trajectory of attachment –
violence
may erupt. Peace can only be found through the light-spirited of
nonattached
being.
When one calls, it is better not to answer – after all, what would
be
the answer to the answer, friend?
16—
It
is not a choice to be jubilant or morbid – it is an innate
disposition which can be
kindled
with fire – either way – they are both combustible.
17—
There
is no repression – only sublimation is the proper means to an end
of
desire,
and by consequence, suffering.
18—
Pick
one from the deck of cards – any one can be your greatest
invention, or
your
greatest foe.
19—
Hard
work makes one rugged and firm. Whereas the infirm crumble like sand
in
your
hands. To build an army of men demands will-power and direction, but
without
individual firmity even the greatest leader cannot direct the sailors
to
land.
Multiply and give birth to a nation – divide and conquer the foe
within.
Pride
yourself in generosity. Do not be humble in your greed.
20—
What
makes men strong is firm resolution. What makes men weak is wandering
without
direction. A proper leader unifies the masses through finding a
balance
in
the wandering crowd. The crowd controls the leader just as the leader
governs
the crowd.
21—
Even
a spider should get its final respects and prayer.
